Welcome to Santiago Toastmasters Club! We are members of a nonprofit professional development organization helping you to improve your communication and leadership skills.

Santiago Toastmasters Club (Club #5,032) regularly meets at 1pm every 1st and 3rd Thursday throughout the year (view calendar), and the 1st Thursday of December, each year at the AMCHAM CHILE offices in the Hotel Marriott, Av. Kennedy 5735, Of. 201. West Tower

The first Toastmasters Club was founded by Dr. Ralph Smedley in California, the United States of America, in October 1924.  Today, there are more than 10,000 clubs in 90 countries around the world.  Santiago Toastmasters Club was founded over 10 years ago by Michael Combes, Richard Diego, and Jim Plunket on September 14th, 1994.  The club currently has 25 members.

The mission of the organization is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which each member has the opportunity to develop cumminication and leadership skills, fostering self-confidence and personal growth.

The 1 ½ hour meetings are conducted in English (the Club is bilingual), with an agenda of several prepared speeches, which are evaluated, along with impromptu short talks on topics, given by the rest of those in attendance.  Each meeting is presided over by a Toastmaster, who conducts the meeting in a business meeting format, with all the members and guests participating in the speaking and evaluation tasks.

Membership to the organization is offered to those invited guests who have attended three meetings.  Current membership of the organization comprises local bilingual businesspeople, working in all areas of private enterprise, government, and education in Santiago, students and homemakers.
